The titlepage of the 1st edition of "The Hours of the Passion" written by Luisa which Saint Hannibal Mary Di Francia
was responsible for publishing in 1915.

"His Excellency Msgr. Archbishop of Trani, to whom you belong, gave me jurisdiction over you as far as your writings and their publication - that is, to deal with you and to dispose the publication, as I believe is right (his words).    These faculties embrace all that you have written until now, and all that you will write in the future...
Therefore, in the sight of the Divine Will which manifests Itself here, and which many times has equally manifested Itself, I, in the Most Holy Name of Jesus and with the Authority which has been conferred to me by your legitimate Ecclesiastical Superior, give you absolute and strong obedience to write precisely, day after day, night after night, time after time, everything that happens between you and Jesus! - may they be even the most intimate things!...

An excerpt from a letter of
Saint Hannibal Maria Di Francia
to Luisa Piccarreta

Messina  June 6, 1924

These are writings that must now be made known to the world. I believe they will produce great good. For as sublime as is this science of the Divine Will, so do these writings of divine dictation, present it, clearly and limpidly. In my opinion, no human intellect would have been able to form them.
Yours in J.C.

An excerpt from the writings of
Luisa Piccarreta

June 1, 1927  Vol. 22

I was feeling afflicted, not only because of the privation of my sweet Jesus, but also because I had received the unexpected news of the death of Rev. Father Di Francia. He was the only one left to whom I could open my poor soul. How well he understood me – he was a Saint to whom I entrusted myself, and who had so well understood all the value of what Jesus had told me on the Divine Will. He was so interested in it that, with insistence, he had taken all the writings with him in order to publish them.
